MY CAMPAIGN

  • USPSA needs to support clubs with Match management, scoring systems, marketing and promotion of facilities.

  • We should encourage more training of shooters at the club level, using the many professional trainers in our sport.

  • Expand the "New Shooter" courses being used at Rio Salado, and the Ambassador (Buddy) program at Cactus Match League.

CLUB SUPPORT

  • Hire a Marketing Specialist (or Agency) that would support clubs/ranges with marketing shooting sports;

  • Consult with ranges on working with city/state officials in obtaining permits

  • Work with the NSSF to facilitate more ranges and match locations

  • Lobby for improved sports facilities at a national level

  • Market aggressively to LE and develop relationships with officers and administrators.

  • Develop relationships with USA Shooting

  • Develop relationships with NRA sports

MARKETING

  • USPSA needs to push for more matches, more capacity, more range facilities and expansion of existing ranges..

  • We need outside range help to make it more about shooting, and less about working.

  • The Nationals needs to be come West.
  • Focus attention on the sports aspect of our game. Not that 2A is not important - it is, but focus should be on the competitive sports excitement factor.

EXPAND MATCHES

  • Our bylaws specifically state we need to cultivate international shooting.

  • IPSC holds 102 nations, 250,000 shooters and hundreds of matches worldwide

  • Run more local IPSC matches

  • Simply equipment rules

  • Host the Pan American Conference

  • Run USPSA and IPSC style matches side by side. (This is not intended to take anything away from USPSA)

  • Give shooters a choice, shoot either or both styles.

The following are the Area Director Candidate Questions as asked by USPSA that will appear in the Sept/Oct Issue of Front Sight Magazine.

Q: Why do you desire to serve (or continue to serve) on the board of directors?

A: I want to see us return to the purpose as defined in our bylaws:

  • Increased support of smaller clubs

  • Match management training for ranges

  • Treating clubs as a type of "franchisee", where we provide t...

Any time you are called upon to vote, it is a good idea to know what the facts are. Actually, it is critical you know. An educated society is a strong society.
If I am elected by the members of Area 2, my promise is to keep people educated. I also expect members to do their part in promoting and supporting the leadership. Even if it is a small part, we should all be involved.

The following is an excerpt of the USPSA Bylaws. The...

I have decided to run for the position of Area 2 Director for USPSA. I need to submit 50 certified nominees to USPSA prior to being accepted.

Please email me if you would like a form, which must be signed, scanned and returned to me.

If you are able to collect signatures from fellow USPSA shooters, that would be most appreciated.

Remember, this is your organization, and I am your representative. We are in this together.

Many tha...

The above picture was taken by the NBC at the NRA Show in 2017. I was sitting front row, thanks to my good friend and NRA Board Member Todd Rathner.

I have always believed that all elected officials should be hired and paid to complete a contract. Their campaign promises should be a mandate to perform. They should also only be paid a the conclusion of their contract.

Term limits should apply to all elections.

And once you a...

I remember when Facebook was launched, my PR person came into my office and said, "Hey, there is this new thing called Facebook, and it is going to connect us with all our friends."
I didn't bite - to be honest I wasn't thrilled with MySpace, and thought this was just another gimmick.

But Facebook has taken over our lives - well most of us anyway.

I still think there are a ton of good things about it. I buy many thousands of dol...

According to the NSSF, the non-shooting gun owners make up a $12 billion group.

One study done for them found that 49 million adults participated in shooting in 2016.

And they still believe that millions with direct access to guns, don't shoot at all.

Clubs make up the lifeblood of the organization.

USPSA would be nothing without the support of the clubs.

  • We need the activity credits the clubs generate.

  • We need the memb...

USPSA Area 2 Director Jerry Wescott has resigned his position as Area 2 Director effective Aug. 1, due to his family moving outside of Area 2 for a career opportunity. Jerry has expressed thanks to the members of Area 2 and the Board of Directors for their support during this transition. President Mike Foley, and the Board of Directors, would like to thank Jerry for his service to USPSA and his work in the development of the U...

What is USPSA?  Is it a hobby, a sport, or an event?  The answer depends largely on who you ask, but USPSA is all three.  We are a hobby.  Not everyone who competes in USPSA has his or her eye on winning.  Many USPSA members continue to show up for the friendship and fellowship that matches at all levels provide.  We are also a sport.  Our top athletes spend thousands of hours training and preparing for our most prestigious ev...
